Highland Avenue + Virginia Ave + Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail
- 5 Miles of human-powered amusement (3 miles of open streets plus 2 miles of the brand new BeltLine)
- 20,000+ attendees
- 50+ activities along the route
- After-party at Ponce City Market with 1,000 attendees
The new 5-mile looped route linked five neighborhoods via Highland Avenue, the new Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, and Virginia Ave from Old Fourth Ward to Inman Park to Poncey-Highland to Atkins Park and to Virginia Highland.
The Highland Ave. section of the route was chosen to raise awareness of its extraordinary bicycle crash rate, the second highest next to Ponce de Leon. The Atlanta BeltLine section was added to introduce people to the new Eastside Trail, a 2.25-mile paved multi-use path, the third segment of the 33-mile loop around the City intended for bicyclists and pedestrians. The Virginia Ave section was added to create a loop connecting the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail back to Highland Ave.
